8:00 - 10:00 at Gakudo Hall
②Night Dance & Performance
16:00 - 20:00 at Kannon Hondo
③Morning Dance & Performance
20:00 - 22:00 at Garden in front of Kannondo
It is one of the traditional dance and performance dedicated to gods in Mikawa region. The program consists of Daytime, Night, and Morning dance and performance. Especially, Night one that mimics activities of rice farming throughout the year is the highlight.
The dance and performance is designated as National important intangible folk cultural asset.
①Daytime (Ritual and dance to worship the god)
The program mainly consists of ritual including preparation of the whole programs.
The performance featuring root of trees, dances of fan, meals, Buddah etc. are played including chant for the gods.
②Night (Dance and performance to pray for good harvest)
Performers wearing masks mimic activities of rice farming such as selecting rice seedling, soil puddling, chasing birds, rice planting and so on.
※The programs end with the perfomance of rice planting and move on to the following Morning dance and performance.
③Morning (Traditional performance, dance, dance wearing masks are played at the precinct of the temple. 4 bonfires are set up)
The programs are continuously performed following to the Night ones.
Performance features protecting from fire, feudal load, woman, old man, horse, and lion. The dance and performance played until around 22:00.
Damine Kannon Koshoji (temple) is regarded as one of 3 Kannon temple in Mikawa region. The temple was built in 1559 as the guardian temple of Damine castle. The feudal load of the castle Suganume Sadatada transfer the temple from Owa village (today's Owa region of Horaiji town) to the present location.
Academically, Night Dance & Performance is highly recommended since the programs has cultural value.
The most interesting one is Morning Dance and Performance. Dialogue during the performance is funny and children can enjoy the program.

From "Honnagashino Sta." of JR Iida Line, transfer to Toyotetsu Bus for Taguchi.
Get off at "Damine" and 20min. by walk.
From Tomei Highway "Toyokawa Exit", via Route 151 and 257.
