・Sakurayama Hachimangu (shrine)
・Every 9 - 10 October
This is Shinto ritual of Sakurayama Hachimangu; Ujigami (the local Shinto deity) of the northern part of old town area at the foot of Takayama Castle.
11 floats parade in the city.
Traditional features such as parade of traditional costume, triks of doll of the float can be seen.
①Parade of the portable shrine
Following to the portable shurine, hundreds of people in traditional costumes of samurai and ladies parade in the city to the traditional instrument music.
Oct. 9： Depart from the shrine at 13:00.
Oct. 10： At 8:30, Depart from the shrine
At 13:30, Depart from the rest area.
②Tricks of dolls
Tricks of dolls of the floats can be seen.
Played twice per day at the shrine.
Oct. 9： 12:00 - 15:00
Oct. 10： 11:00 - 13:00
③Ceremony of floats
All floats get together at the shrine.
All of them are nationally designated as Intangible folk cultural asset.
Oct. 9： 9:00 - 16:00
Oct. 10： 9:00 - 16:00
④Parade of floats
4 floats out of 11 will parade in the city (Kaguradai and Hoodai floats parade to the city every year）.
Oct. 9： 13:30
Floats decorated with 100 lanterns parade in the city.
Oct. 9： 18:00 - 21:00

Legend says that the festival started in the period between late 16th century and 17th century.
Floats parade in the traditional townscape under clear autumn sky is tasteful.
Craftman works and spirits is also must-see; beautiful work and skills of carving, structure of the trick dolls etc. is amazing and attractive.
Scene of the lanterns in the townscape and the floats illuminated by lanterns in the night is beautiful and mysterious. You may feel like you are in the other dimention.
